When we care for our Planet, the Planet takes care of us. “H2O Planet” is a 501c3 Nonprofit Charity focused on education and marine conservation. Created by Scuba Divers, it’s a community of Underwater Enthusiasts passionate about oceans and aquatic life. Divers have the unique ability to identify (and fix) problems in marine environments – and are often first to observe the issues and serve as Ocean Advocates. Tax-deductible donations fund Environmental Education, Conservation Projects, and create Equal Access to diverse opportunities for youth, underserved populations, and those with disabilities.
- Earth is a "Water Planet" (and the basis for our name). Water covers 70% of the Planet’s surface and 97% is held in oceans. Yet only 10% of Oceans are mapped – and only 8% are protected. Humans know more about Outer Space than we do about the Ocean.
- Water is critical to all life on Earth. Our bodies are comprised of 60% water – and most plants and animals require water to sustain life. 25% of the Planet’s inhabitants (over 2 million different species) live in the water.
- Oceans are essential to our Water Planet. 50% of the Oxygen we breathe is generated by an Ocean and they regulate weather, remove excess heat, absorb carbon dioxide, and slow climate change. Billions of people depend on marine life and oceans for food, medication, recreation, and tourism. The Planet’s Future is OUR Future, too – but as problems become more urgent (with increased pollution, overfishing, and global warming), the health of the Planet becomes more at-risk.
Trash-Free Seas – We bring Volunteers together to eliminate Underwater Trash from beaches, lakes, and oceans (which can cause animal entanglements or ingestion).
Education – Inspire and engage future Ocean Advocates (including underserved populations across all ethnic, cultural, and economic sectors) to learn about Marine Conservation and the Aquatic World
Find Lost Things Underwater – Divers help community members recover items lost underwater (like wedding rings, jewelry, or car keys)
Conservation - Create opportunities for innovative solutions to help with environmental sustainability
Scuba Instruction – Diving is FUN: with 70% of the Planet covered in water, Divers explore unique areas others will never see (like shipwrecks and coral reefs). We offer conservation classes about Sealife, dive for Megalodon Shark Teeth – and have traveled worldwide. We can teach YOU how to Scuba Dive, too – and explore our beautiful Water Planet!
